Pet Salad is our name for fresh growing wheatgrass when it is used as a treat for pets. Cats are by far the most avid wheatgrass consumers, but dogs, rabbits, birds, iguanas, turtles, lizards, and rodents love it too!

Wheatgrass is amazingly nutritious. It has high levels of vitamins A, B-complex, and C. It has twice the beta carotene as carrots. It is rich in calcium, phosphorus, iron, potassium, and zinc as well. But most importantly, wheatgrass is an excellent source of chlorophyll, a known blood cleanser and digestive aid.

If you place a container of Pet Salad by your pets' food, they will nibble on it during the course of the week.  Indoor cats will choose wheatgrass over houseplants every time (they eat houseplants because they crave the chlorophyll within fresh greens). If your cat eats wheatgrass regularly, it will never have hairball issues again! Wheatgrass also gives your pet fresher breath, a shinier coat, and a healthier digestive system.

Please send them to us at info@farmingturtles.com and we will include them in our pet photo gallery.

HOW TO CARE FOR YOUR PET SALAD
Pet Salad is alive when you bring it home. At room temperature, it will grow about an
inch a day. Use the base provided to add water from the bottom when the soil gets dry
(light brown in color or light weight).

A container of Pet Salad will last about a week outside of the fridge. When Pet Salad gets to
be about 7-8 inches tall, it will start to turn yellow and the blades will split on top. At this point
the amount of chlorophyll in each blade has diminished greatly. It is best to discard the grass
at this time (or compost it!) and buy a fresh container, so that your pet gets the most
nutrition from the grass.

As a final note: If your pet is truly crazy about pet salad, buy a few at a time and store
the extra ones in the refrigerator. They will stay the same height for weeks if kept cool.
When you take a fresh container out of the fridge, make sure to give it some water before
giving it to your pet.
